COMPETITION for Irish point-to-pointers and National Hunt horses in training looks set to intensify with this week’s news that DBS has reinstated its Hennessy Sale at Newbury Racecourse

The sale, which will take place after racing on Friday, November 27th, will be competing with the new-look Tattersalls sales at Cheltenham in November and December for Irish talent. British and French horses will also be targeted by both companies but traditionally Irish pointers have formed the bulk of the catalogues.

The Newbury sale was temporarily suspended due to some of the redevelopment works that have dramatically improved the current facilities and further development will take place in the next few years.

Bloodstock agent Michael Moore, formerly of Brightwells but now working as a consultant with DBS, will play a major role in recruiting Irish horses for the Newbury sale.

This year’s sale will take place in a purpose-built structure on the Copper King Lawn, located beside the saddling boxes and parade ring, and horses will be stabled adjacent to the current stable yard.
