DR Adrian McGoldrick, senior medical officer with the Turf Club, has given an update on the injuries suffered by Davy Russell in an accident in the parade ring at Cork last Sunday when his mount reared up and dislodged him.

Russell will be missing for eight to 10 weeks after breaking bones in his left arm and suffering fractures in his right foot which will require an air boot.

Niall McCullagh suffered a collapsed lung with bruising, nine fractured ribs and a fractured collarbone in a fall on the gallops in late July and has six weeks to go before racing again.

Philip Enright will be back next Tuesday after recovering from a fractured heel and Ryan Treacy, who sustained shoulder and pelvic injuries from a fall in the Galway Plate, is recovering slowly and will be out for three to four months.

Mark Fahey is in Tallaght Hospital following a fall on the gallops at Jessica Harrington’s yard. He has fractured two vertebrae in his neck and three in his spine and will be out for four to six months.

Martin Ferris, who has not ridden since sustaining a serious wrist fracture last October, is close to making a comeback. He is due to undergo a medical examination in Dublin on Monday with the hope of resuming race-riding in time for the Listowel Festival.
