THE Irish Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association enjoyed a packed house at the course it staged for Farm Safety Awareness Week.

The course was completed over three days from June 30th to July 2nd and included six modules – safety risk assessment and statement, chemical awareness, manual handling, fire safety, infection prevention and control and equipment safety.

Pat Griffin from the Health and Safety Authority welcomed all attendees on Tuesday and complimented the ITBA for providing such a comprehensive lecture series and essential benefit for their members.

All modules were conducted by Tom Hetherington and Alan Coleman from Heartbeat Safety Limited and attendees received a certificate of compliance QQ1 Level 4 for each module. The certificate holders can implement and manage safety systems on their farms and this should result in a reduction of their public liability insurance costs.
