BARRY Geraghty returns to race-riding at Limerick on Sunday following an absence of over three months. The top jump jockey broke his shin in a fall at Downpatrick in late March and the injury took far longer to heal than the rider expected. In the meantime Geraghty was appointed as number one rider for owner J.P. McManus, replacing the now-retired A.P. McCoy.
There was further drama for Geraghty this week as, after attending the wedding of colleague Paul Carberry, Geraghty spent Tuesday evening in hospital.
He reported: “I was in a fair bit of pain and I found out I had a kidney stone. I had it removed and was feeling a fair bit better the following morning.”
Geraghty is down to ride three McManus-owned horses at Limerick.
