THE current point-to-point season has constantly been interrupted by the weather but the sector received a major boost at this week’s Goffs UK Aintree Sale.

In what was the first edition of the sale, held after racing on Thursday, six lots sold for in excess of £100,000 and all of them were Irish pointers.

The Colin Bowe-trained Samcro, a winner at Monksgrange last weekend, topped the sale when sold to Gordon Elliott for £335,000.

The horse is thought likely to race for Gigginstown House Stud.
