First foal for Gustav Klimt

GUSTAV Klimt’s first foal arrived last Friday week when Minch Bloodstock’s Guenea produced a “quality filly”. Both sire and dam of the filly are exceptionally well-bred. Gustav Klimt is by Galileo, out of a full-sister to Kodiac and closely related to Invincible Spirit, while Guenea (by Sinndar) is a half-sister to Group 1 winners Guignol and Guiliani and is out of Oaks d’Italia winner Guadalupe. Guenea’s first two foals are both winners.

As a two-year-old Gustav Klimt won the Group 2 Superlative Stakes at Newmarket. At three he won the 2000 Guineas Trial Stakes at Leopardstown, was runner-up in the St James’s Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot and finished third in the Sprint Cup at Haydock and Irish 2000 Guineas.

He stands at Coolmore’s Castlehyde Stud at a fee of €6,000.
