SMART Foaler is the latest product from established company Happy Foaling, based near Gaillac in south-west France.

Over 20 years ago, Happy Foaling conceived and manufactured the classic roller-girth style foaling alarms. The original roller alarm followed a simple principle – during foaling a mare will usually lie down completely on her flank, triggering an alarm in the small unit mounted on the roller which is relayed to a telephone.

Despite customer satisfaction with this technique its only drawback was the tendency for occasional false alarms.

Listening to clients’ requests, the firm’s chief of research and development put his mind to finding a system that would be 100% effective, never give a false alarm and be smaller and lighter than other magnet-style vaginal systems currently available.

The result was

SMART FOALER!

The transmitters are stitched to the vagina by a veterinary surgeon or qualified individual and send a signal to an 18cm touch-screen tablet which triggers an alarm and also sends an SMS to one or more programmed phone numbers.

    • Additional transmitters €199 each.
    • The receiver tablet operates to a range of up to 200 metres from the transmitters, ideal for foaling units.
    • For paddock monitoring, the company can also supply 1km and 5km signal boosters, along with night vision camera systems.

    • Happy Foaling also offer a €50 refund on the veterinary cost of installing the first magnet on your mare.

    Each transmitter is good for an average of 99 foalings and the signal boosters available mean you can monitor your mare in the field up to 5km away.

    Smart Foaler is a secure system which uses a unique code for each user/farm. Poor coverage is not a problem for Smart Foaler as it can opperate via a landline or a mobile.
