THE Irish Horse Welfare Trust (IHWT) has launched an urgent fundraising appeal to raise €20,000 for essential new fencing at its rescue and rehabilitation centre. The charity says the funding is urgently needed to provide safe and secure mare and foal paddocks ahead of a busy foaling season.

Among the newest arrivals at the centre is Nova, a filly foal born at IHWT last week, pictured above. The organisation expects several more foals to arrive in the coming weeks and months and says suitable paddock facilities are critical to ensuring the safety and welfare of mares and youngstock.

IHWT continues to care for vulnerable, neglected and at-risk horses from across Ireland and relies heavily on public support to maintain and improve its facilities. The charity is encouraging supporters to contribute whatever they can towards the fencing project, with even small donations helping to fund safe turnout areas for all of their mares and foals.

Those wishing to support the appeal can donate through the Irish Horse Welfare Trust’s official fundraising channels and via their website at ihwt.ie/donate.
