TOP TIPS

1. Practice is key so begin your truck and trailer lessons at least two to three weeks before your driving test to allow time for practice.

2. If you are not happy with your instructor, do not complain, change immediately. You are only as good as your instructor.

3. Have a very positive lesson right before your test if possible.

4. Know your theory and be early for your test.

5. Be focused on your driving test, not the end result. Stay in the moment and have a positive mental attitude.

COMMON PITFALLS

1. Turning up for your test to find that there is something wrong with the vehicle or licence. Make sure you have everything in order before the day of your test.

2. Taking too long or lack of progress when driving on the road, i.e. on a good, open road where the speed limit is 50km and you are only doing 40km.

3. Not completely stopping at a stop junction.

4. Stopping in yellow box or pedestrian crossing.

5. Incorrect/ineffective observation at junctions. Some common examples would be; only looking in one direction at junctions before emerging, not looking in the direction of travel while emerging etc.
