THE ITBA will host an autumn seminar entitled “A Practical Approach to Foal Sale Preparation” which is co-funded by Department of Agriculture on Friday September 14th 2018. The seminar will be held at the ITBA HQ and the Irish National Stud.

The morning period at ITBA HQ will be chaired by ITBA CEO Shane O’Dwyer and consists of panellists speaking about their area of expertise and will conclude with a question and answer session.

The morning session panellists secured to date, include; Jacqueline Norris of Jockey Hall Stud, master farrier Liam O’Donovan, Lorraine Fradl, nutritional expert with Connolly’s Red Mills.

The morning session panellists will cover the following topics:

    • The importance of a good preparation programme to ensure your stock reach their full potential in time for the foal sales.
    • The importance of showing foals during the sales.
    • The importance of correct farriery in young stock
    • Required vaccination and disease prevention.
    • Benefits of a good feeding programme
    • Breeding for today’s market and meeting current demands of bloodstock agents & owners
    • The afternoon session will take place at the Irish National Stud.Cathal Beale, CEO will host a classroom talk upon arrival, followed by members of the Irish National Stud Team showing a number of foals. During this session attendees will be shown a number of foals and receive a talk about their confirmation.
