LAST year Derek Iceton’s famous Tara Stud resumed its role as a stallion base and new recruit Alhebayeb (by Dark Angel), a son of one of Europe’s hottest stallions, covered over 160 mares in his maiden season, most of them due to foal over the coming months.

Now that grey is joined by Aljamaaheer and as this high-class sprinter-miler is a son of the mighty Dubawi (by Dubai Millennium), he too looks certain to be one of the busiest flat sires this year.

The chesnut was a six furlong winner at Yarmouth on his only start as a juvenile and went on to become a mile Group 2 scorer who was Group 1 placed at six and eight furlongs.

A half-brother to the pattern-placed Tinkertown (by Verglas), Aljamaaheer is out of the triple winner Kelly Nicole (by Rainbow Quest) and that half-sister to listed scorer Cold Cold Woman (by Machiavellian) is, in turn, a daughter of Banquise (by Last Tycoon).

influential broodmare

That French winner is a daughter of the Group 1 Irish 1000 Guineas heroine Arctique Royale (by Royal And Regal) and so is a half-sister to three pattern stars, one of whom has been an influential broodmare.

Modhish (by Sadler’s Wells) was a Group 1-placed Group 2 scorer, Group 2 winner Russian Snows (by Sadler’s Wells) chased home Pure Grain in the Group 1 Irish Oaks, and Truly Special (by Caerleon) took the Group 3 Prix de Royaumont.

It is she who has starred at stud as she is the dam of the Group 1-placed dual Group 2 winning stayer Wareed (by Sadler’s Wells), of the Grade 2 E P Taylor Stakes heroine Truly A Dream (by Darshaan), and of the stakes-placed broodmare star Solo De Lune (by Law Society).

Truly A Dream gave us the classic-placed Catcher In The Rye (by Danehill), whose progeny include the Group 1 Preis der Diana (German Oaks) herone Rosenreihe as well as Grade 1 stars in Argentina, success that augurs well for Aljamaaheer’s prospects.

She is also the dam of the multiple Grade 1-placed Group 2 Prix de la Nonette scorer Dream Peace (by Dansili).

Group 1 stars

Solo De Lune is the dam of the Group 1 stars Moonstone (by Dalakhani) and Cerulean Sky (by Darshaan) and is the mare from whom the pattern scorers Honolulu (by Montjeu), Memphis Tennessee (by Hurricane Run), Orchestra (by Galileo), Words (by Dansili), Mayhem (by Whipper) and Royal Bench (by Whipper) descend.

Aljamaaheer is a Group 1-placed Group 2 scorer by one of Europe’s great stallions and he comes from the family of classic stars and of a horse who has sired classic winners, and this makes him an exciting new addition to the Irish stallion ranks.

Won three races, £304,834, from 6 furlongs to 1 mile, 2 to 4 years including, Summer Mile Stakes, Ascot, Gr.2, King Charles II Stakes, Newmarket, L, also placed second in Queen Anne Stakes, Ascot, Gr.1, Park Stakes, Doncaster, Gr.2, Leicestershire Stakes, Leicester, L (twice), and third in Diamond Jubilee Stakes, Ascot, Gr.1, Lockinge Stakes, Newbury, Gr.1, Celebration Mile, Goodwood, Gr.2, Abernant Stakes, Newmarket, Gr.3, Jersey Stakes, Ascot, Gr.3, RSA Thoroughbred Stakes, Goodwood, Gr.3. Retires to stud in 2016.
