WITH 100-plus stakes winners to his name, Oasis Dream is one of the most prolific representatives of Green Desert’s powerful branch of the Danzig sire line. He is also developing a strong profile with his own stallion sons and the growing number of them who have stakes- and pattern-winning offspring includes Power, one of last year’s leading freshman sires.
As a juvenile Group 1 winner who became a mile classic star at three, and whose relations include a classic-winning multiple Group 1 sire, it was to be expected that he would achieve such an accolade with his first two-year-olds.
Dual blacktype scorer Peace Envoy (dam by Dansili) won the Group 3 Anglesey Stakes, took second in the Group 2 Railway Stakes and finished third in the Group 1 Prix Morny.
Pleaseletmewin (dam by Indian Ridge) won the Group 3 Horris Hill Stakes before being sold for 450,000gns, Biz Power (dam by Tobougg) was a pattern-placed stakes winner in Italy, and Cristal Fizz (dam by Galileo) advertised her potential with victory in the Listed Radley Stakes at Newbury. La Force (dam by Samum) has earned blacktype placings in Milan and Santa Anita, while the southern hemisphere half of his global first crop features New Zealand Group 2 winner Gift Of Power.
Power is out of Frappe and that makes him a half-brother to Group 2 Ribblesdale Stakes winner Thakafaat (by Unfuwain) and to Curvy (by Galileo), the Grade 1 E P Taylor Stakes heroine and Irish Oaks third of 2015. Their winning half-sister Applauded (by Royal Applause) has done her part for the family by being the dam of two listed race winners in the USA.
Frappe is out of the Group 3 Prestige Stakes winner Glatisant, which makes her a half-sister to Group 1 Phoenix Stakes scorer and sire Pedro The Great (by Henrythenavigator) and to undefeated Group 1 2000 Guineas star and stallion Footstepsinthesand (by Giant’s Causeway), a multiple Group 1 sire who was profiled here last week.
Further back, this is the family of juvenile champion Superstar Leo, of Australian Group 1 scorer December Draw, and of Group 1 Racing Post Trophy winner and 2017 classic prospect Rivet (by Fastnet Rock).
Power’s second crop currently features a €155,000 graduate of last year’s Goffs Orby Yearling Sale and his third one includes a colt who made €60,000 at that venue’s prestigious November Foal Sale.
