ARCHIPENKO is one of the best bred stallions in Europe and, as a son of Kingmambo and from the immediate family of Sadler’s Wells and Nureyev, it was always odds-on that he would get Group 1 winners of his own.

His first-crop daughter Madame Chiang won the Group 1 Qipco British Champions Fillies/Mares Stakes at Ascot, he has three others who have been placed at the highest level – Don Archi, Lady Penko, and Silver Look – and having hit the Group 1 bullseye once, there is no reason why he could not do it again.

Madame Chiang is out of a Robellino (Roberto) mare, and twice Grade 1-placed dual Argentine Grade 2 heroine Silver Look is out of a daughter of Laheeb (a grandson of Roberto), which catches the eye as you scan through his stakes winners.

Archipenko’s European runners also include last year’s Group 3 Arc Trial and Listed Cocked Hat Stakes winner Algometer (dam by Alzao), the juvenile blacktype scorers Russian Punch (dam by Beat Hollow) and Time Warp (dam by Stormy Atlantic), and the aforementioned Lady Penko (dam by Danehill), who was third to Vazira in the Group 1 Prix Saint-Alary.

There is also something of a living legend among them as Va Bank (dam by Dilshaan), who beat subsequent Group 1 scorer Potemkin in a Group 3 over 10 furlongs at Baden-Baden, is one of the all-time greats in Poland where he is an undefeated Triple Crown hero.

Group 1 winner Archipenko, a leading international mile to 10-furlong performer, is out of Bound, and he is inbred 4x2 to Special and 4x3 to Northern Dancer. His dam is full-sister to Grade 2 winner Number, who is the dam of Group 1 sires Jade Robbery and Numerous, both by Mr Prospector, and grandam of Lizard Island, a Grade 1 sire in Argentina.

Bound was a half-sister to Nureyev and also to Fairy Bridge, the mare who gave us classic star and dynasty-founder Sadler’s Wells and his Group 1-siring brothers Fairy King, Tate Gallery, and Perugino.

These are just at the tip of a genetic iceberg whose layers include Thatch, Soldier Hollow and El Condor Pasa among many more of note.

Won six races, £1,254,781, from 7 furlongs to 1 mile 2 furlongs, 2 to 5 years including, Audemars Piguet Queen Elizabeth II Cup, Sha Tin, Gr.1, Derrinstown Stud Derby Trial Stakes, Leopardstown, Gr.2, Dubai Commercial Bank Al Fahidi Fort, Nad Al Sheba, Gr.2, Plymouth Gin Summer Mile Stakes, Ascot, Gr.2, Meydan Racecourse Zabeel Mile, Nad Al Sheba, Gr.3, also placed second in Arlington Million Stakes, Arlington International, Gr.1, and third in Likely Fields Dubai Duty Free Stakes, Nad Al Sheba, Gr.1.
