NEWSELLS Park Stud’s Group 1 sprint star Equiano (by Acclamation) has been represented in the winners’ enclosure many times recently and most notably following the victory of The Tin Man in the Group 3 bet365 Hackwood Stakes over six furlongs at Newbury on Saturday.

The gelding was bred by Elizabeth Grundy, he represents his sire’s first crop, and last year’s Group 1 Qipco British Champions Sprint Stakes fourth is out of Persario (by Bishop Of Cashel).

His half-brother Deacon Blues (by Compton Place) won that major Ascot contest when it carried Group 2 status, and that gelding’s three other pattern wins that season included a seven-length romp in the Group 3 Phoenix Sprint Stakes at the Curragh. Their best sister is arguably Holley Shiftwell (by Bahamian Bounty), a five-furlong specialist whose blacktype comes from second-place finishes in listed contests at Bath and Ayr last year.

Pesario is out of Barford Lady (by Stanford) and that makes her a half-sister to the prolific stakes and pattern-winning seven-furlong horse Warningford (by Warning).

Coolmore Stud’s classic winner and juvenile Group 1 star Power (by Oasis Dream) got a first pattern winner from his first crop when Peace Envoy added the Group 3 Jebel Ali Racecourse & Stables Anglesey Stakes, over the extended six furlongs at the Curragh, to his prior listed race success. He was bred by Team Hogdala AB, he is a €125,000 Arqana Deauville October Yearling Sale graduate and his siblings include both the Group 3-placed Czech Derby winner Kadyny (by Zamindar) and that colt’s full-brother Our Last Summer, a Niels Petersen-trained three-year-old who was listed-placed in Germany last month.

Peace Envoy is out of Hoh My Darling (by Dansili), a 10-furlong winner who comes from the family of prolific Group 1 star and great broodmare Dahlia (by Vaguely Noble).
