Out of the speedy Folga (by Atraf), and so a full-brother to Group 1 Nunthorpe Stakes heroine Mecca’s Angel, the Owen Burrows-trained colt is a £200,000 Doncaster graduate whom Yeomanstown bred in partnership with Doc Bloodstock.
About 50 minutes later the Richard Hannon-trained juvenile Nations Alexander won the Listed Cambridge Magazine Supporting The AHT Empress Stakes over the same trip at Newmarket. The 50,000gns Tattersalls October Sale graduate was bred by Oakhill Stud and her dam, Party Whip (by Whipper), comes from the family of Irish 1000 Guineas heroine Front Row (by Epaulette).
An hour after that, the Richard Fahey-trained Gabrial won the Listed Sky Bet Midsummer Stakes over eight and a half furlongs at Windsor, a second blacktype success for the Group 1-placed gelding.
The Brian Kennedy-trained seven-year-old is out of Guajira (by Mtoto), a multiple winning half-sister to the US Grade 2 scorers Jaunatxo (by Lyphard’s Wish) and Iron Deputy (by Silver Deputy).
