MRS Danvers was a vendor buy-back at just £1,000 at the Tattersalls Ireland Ascot February Sale, but at Newbury on Saturday she took her earnings past the £136,000 mark when winning the Weatherbys Super Sprint over five furlongs.

The grey is now unbeaten in three starts. She was bred by the partnership of M. A. Burton and Connie Hopper, and she is by the Bucklands Farm & Stud stallion Hellvelyn (by Ishiguru).

That high-class sprinter is also responsible for runaway Group 3 scorer La Rioja, who was fourth in the Group 1 Commonwealth Cup last month and third in a Group 3 sprint at York recently, and also for the stakes-placed Curragh juvenile scorer Mister Trader, who holds an entry in next month’s Group 1 Keeneland Phoenix Stakes.

Mrs Danvers is the second foal out of Rebecca De Winter (by Kyllachy), a juvenile sprinter whose siblings include Ripon listed scorer and prolific winner Izzthatright (by Moss Vale).

Her fourth dam was a half-sister to the top-class sprinter Boldboy (by Bold Lad USA).
