ANSWERED (by Authorized) got his season off to a good start with an impressive five and a half length victory in the Listed Martin Molony Stakes over 12 and a half furlongs at Limerick on Saturday, beating the filly Walzing Matilda more easily than Parish Hall did the previous week, albeit giving her 2lbs less weight than did his team mate on that occasion.

The Jim Bolger-trained four-year-old was bred by Cheveley Park Stud, he made 50,000gns in Newmarket as a foal, and his record now stands at three wins from five starts.

He was unraced at two, beat Onenightidreamed over a mile on his debut last year, chased home Fascinating Rock in the Group 3 Ballysax Stakes at Navan, and then finished fourth behind that same colt in the Group 3 Derrinstown Stud Derby Trial at Leopardstown.

His only other outing has been in the Listed Trigo Stakes over 10 furlongs in late October, also at Leopardstown, in which he beat Vote Often by a neck.

He holds an entry in the Group 1 Tattersalls Gold Cup and an interesting one in the Group 1 Gold Cup at Ascot, and he is clearly held in high regard.

He is a son of the Derby hero and notably successful Haras du Logis stallion Authorized (by Montjeu), he is a half-brother to the multiple scorer Woody Bay (by New Approach), and he is out of the Grade 1 Del Mar Oaks heroine Dublino (by Lear Fan).

She is the only blacktype horse among eight winners out of the unplaced Tuscoga (by Theatrical), but her dam is out of the Group 2 winner and New Zealand juvenile champion Noble Times (by Drums Of Time), which makes her a full-sister to the Grade 1 Matriach Stakes heroine Duda.

This is a family that has proved its ability to produce top-class racehorses, and the combination of the promise he has shown so far, his pedigree and his big-race entries suggest that this colt could become well-known by the end of the year.
