TATTERSALLS Online’s largest offering to date saw 463 bidders partake in the platform’s September Sale, which marked a 6% increase on the record set just last month.

American Belle, a half-sister to Ombudsman, was retained by connections for 580,000gns, making a breeding right to Palace Pier the top lot at 48,000gns, bought by J & A Young Racing.

ANC Bengough’s 42,000gns buy Summer Breeze was the top-priced broodmare. Offered by Elevage des Trois Rivieres in foal to Sioux Nation, the Too Darn Hot five-year-old is out of dual Group 3 winner and twice Group 1-placed Siyoushake.

The Dell Bloodstock gave 31,000gns for Rathbran House Stud’s young mare Sirya Star. The half-sister to French Guineas second Isaac Shelby was sold in foal to exciting young sire Bayside Boy.

Among the interesting results at lower prices was Derryconnor Stud’s purchase of Al Shaham for 1,800gns. Katie McGivern had bought the son of Blue Point as a yearling and resold him as a breezer for £200,000.

Simon and Ed Crisford’s charge won his first two starts and held Group 1 entries when sent off favourite for last year’s Two-Year-Old Trophy at Redcar, but disappointed there and next time out in the Goffs Million. The now three-year-old has been absent and gelded since.

Second time lucky?

McGivern has previously been lucky buying back her former breeze-up horses, training So Majestic to reach a mark of 95 and place in two listed sprints, before selling to Shadai Farm for 180,000gns.

Darren O’Dwyer was the busiest buyer of the sale with four purchases, two of which were bought with Tony Carroll.

The agent commented: “Coming into the jumps season there are people looking for horses so it’s great to be active with orders to fill. I find there is still real value to be found online, if you do your homework.

“You know there is a sale every month. You have plenty of time to get your ducks in a row and you can do it all from the comfort of your own home.”

Other successful buyers included Dan Astbury, Ed Dunlop, Finbar Kent, Highflyer Bloodstock, Jerry McGrath, Kelly Equine, Rebecca Menzies, Stephen Thorne, The Horse Watchers, Tinnakill Bloodstock, Tony Carroll and Valfredo Valiani.
