RECORDS were shattered at the 2025 Tattersalls Ireland September Yearling Sale and the Co Meath company has high hopes of maintaining the sale’s upward trajectory, with what they describe as their ‘strongest ever catalogue’ for the 2026 renewal.

Yearlings by Blue Point, Mehmas, Sea The Stars, Sioux Nation, Starman and Starspangledbanner featured in last year’s top 10 lots and are among the leading sires represented in the latest line-up, alongside the likes of Camelot, Dark Angel, Galiway, Gleneagles, Havana Grey, Invincible Spirit, Kingman, Kodiac, Lope De Vega, New Bay, No Nay Never, St Mark’s Basilica and Wootton Bassett.

Promising young sires are well-represented, including a Naval Crown half-brother to Grade 1 heroine La Pelosa, a St Mark’s Basilica filly out of dual Group 1 winner Again and a Bayside Boy colt out of a half-sister to the sale’s multiple graded-winning graduate Beau Recall.

The Castlebridge Consignment sold last year’s €200,000 top lot and their 40-strong draft this time includes a Chaldean brother to a Grade 1 performer, a Kingman colt from the family of Banks Hill and a New Bay colt out of a full-sister to Quadrilateral.

Other highlights include a Gleneagles half-brother to dual Group 1 winner A Case Of You, a Phoenix Of Spain half-brother to Nassau Stakes runner-up One Voice, a Sioux Nation half-brother to Group 1 second Jabaara and a Mehmas own-brother to Flying Childers Stakes victor Caturra.

The sale will take place on September 22nd and 23rd, followed by Part 2 on the 24th. The one-day sale also returned record figures 12 months ago, which has seen numbers increase from 165 to 220 this year.

All yearlings catalogued for both sales are eligible for the €250,000 Tattersalls Ireland Super Auction Sales Stakes at the Curragh at the 2027 Irish Champions Festival.

Upon the catalogue’s release, Tattersalls Ireland CEO, Simon Kerins, commented: “A strong catalogue leads to a better quality of graduate representing the sale on the racecourse, and our two-year-olds this season got off to a phenomenal start, and we have juveniles winning on the domestic front, across Europe and beyond.

“Of course, last year’s memorable Group 1 Royal Ascot three-timer for Docklands, Cercene and Time For Sandals was a fantastic showcase for the sale, and I’ve no doubt that top-level success from this sale will become a more regular occurrence.”
