AT the time of writing, Paris is under a high temperature warning, but temperatures are set to drop to a more manageable high of 21 degrees by the time the Aktem Paris Breeze Up Sale stages a gallop at Maisons-Laffitte racecourse on Tuesday, June 2nd.
Europe’s newest auction house, Aktem enjoyed a sensational start to their physical sales a few weeks ago, when the Grand Steeple-Chase Selected Sale produced sales of up to €510,000 and €440,000.
Breeze-up consignors, too, come here off the back of heartening results at the Tattersalls Ireland Breeze Up Sale, where the lack of trade restrictions due to Brexit had a part to play in what has been a testing few months for the sector.
Strong appeal
The majority of next week’s 86-lot catalogue hails from Ireland, with John Burke’s Hyde Park Stud consigning the largest draft of 12 juveniles. Despite the Irish flair, the catalogue boasts strong appeal to the home market, as 40% of lots qualify for French owners’ premiums.
Leading sires include the likes of Acclamation, Dark Angel, Galiway, Havana Grey, Invincible Spirit, Mehmas, Oasis Dream, Showcasing, Sioux Nation, Soldier’s Call and Starspangledbanner, as well as a host of young sires.
