CELERON’S taking performance in the Railway Stakes was well-timed, as it came just ahead of Tattersalls releasing the catalogue the Somerville Sale, where he was bought by Antonio da Silva for 20,000gns.

Top-class sprinter Bradsell sold for just 12,000gns at the sale’s inaugural edition in 2021 and later graduates have included the likes of Arabian Dusk, Havana Hurricane and Relief Rally.

Last year, the sale recorded its highest average price of 34,254gns and Tattersalls have assembled a similar number of yearlings in an aim to repeat their success on September 2nd.

The 286 lots include 41 siblings of stakes horses and 34 yearlings out blacktype mares.

Among the highlights are a Mehmas half-brother to the Grade 1 winner Lady Prancealot, a Harry Angel half-sister to Richmond Stakes winner Saayerr and a Too Darn Hot half-brother to Group 1 sprinter Equality.

Proven Group 1 sires with progeny catalogued include Acclamation, Blue Point, Dark Angel, Havana Grey, Invincible Spirit, Kodiac, Mehmas, New Bay, Oasis Dream, Sands Of Mali, Showcasing, Sioux Nation and Too Darn Hot.

Buyers will have one of the first opportunities to purchase yearlings by young sires Angel Bleu, Bouttemont, Chaldean, Dragon Symbol, El Caballo, Good Guess, Little Big Bear, Lusail, Modern Games, Mostahdaf, Native Trial, Shaquille, The Antarctic and Triple Time.

All yearlings catalogued in the Tattersalls Somerville Yearling Sale are eligible for the £200,000 Tattersalls Somerville Auction Stakes as well as the £200,000 Tattersalls October Auction Stakes.
