SUSPICIOUS Mindz topped the Tattersalls Online July Sale at 50,000gns, five days after winning a Curragh maiden for Jessica Harrington.
The Bated Breath brother to Norfolk Stakes winner The Ridler finished third to Thesecretadversary and Brussels in a listed race last season and got off the mark over six furlongs on Saturday.
The 84-rated three-year-old was one of two lots purchased by the Malton-based Chalkstone Racing, who earlier secured William Haggas’ Great Dream for 30,000gns.
Chalkstone Racing’s Stuart McFarlane explained: “We have long-term plans for the stable and some shorter-term plans as well where we are looking to secure some quality horses in training who have demonstrated plenty of potential.
“We are delighted to have secured these two horses from the top stables of Jessica Harrington and William Haggas. We felt they represented excellent value and look the type to keep progressing and compete in some valuable races.”
Harrington’s Commonstown Stables sold three of their four lots catalogued, including the winning Lope De Vega gelding Collecting Coin, who sold to Max & Mabel for 33,000gns.
A filly from the first crop of Ace Impact commanded the second highest price of the day, with Bold Lines signing for Haras de Beaumont’s offering at 42,000gns. Bred at a fee of €40,000, the bay yearling is out of Group 3 winner and blacktype producer Shahah.
Blacktype
There is the chance of further blacktype, too, as the dam’s Sea The Stars three-year-old named Wareeth has won two of his four starts, earning him a rating of 100.
Castlehyde Stud consigned the highest-priced mare of the day in Comply, who sold to CV Bloodstock for 39,000gns. The unraced three-year-old is by St Mark’s Basilica, out of Cheveley Park Stakes heroine Rosdhu Queen, who has produced a stakes horse and another rated 100.
Comply was sold carrying her first cover to champion two-year-old Little Big Bear, whose first foals fetched up to €155,000 last winter.
