JOSEPH O’Brien’s Gowran Park maiden winner Lunar Tide topped the Tattersalls Online May Sale at 34,000gns.

Epsom trainer George Baker signed for the Sea The Moon gelding, who won his second start over a mile last month, building on a debut fifth at Dundalk in February.

“He looks a nice type who was spotted by a good form student friend of mine and he’s for a lovely, fun bunch of owners,” Baker said of the three-year-old, who had been vendored for 50,000gns last week.

“We’ll get him home and it would be great if he could go to Glorious Goodwood as the owners are based in the south and love the course. Hopefully, he could end up going to Bahrain later in the year.”

Lunar Tide was consigned by Baroda Stud, whose bloodstock and marketing executive Sarah Kelly said: “Having been unsold at last week’s Guineas Sale, we decided to keep him in Newmarket and enter him online, where we’ve had great interest since the weekend.

“His page generated 988 views and 77 veterinary certificate views, demonstrating the audience that the Tattersalls digital sales have.”

Director’s Cut, who won a novice race at Newcastle in November for John and Thady Gosden, will remain in Newmarket after selling to trainer Ross Burdon for 28,000gns. The Yulong-bred Palace Pier gelding is a half-brother to three-time Group 1 winner Light Infantry Man.

For the same price, Amo Racing bought partners Al Shaqab Racing out of three-year-old filly Ada Rose. The Showcasing filly previously cost 340,000gns and finished fifth on handicap debut last month.
