THIRTY-four two-year-olds who breezed at Dundalk last Wednesday feature in the catalogue for the Tattersalls Online June Sale, for which bidding opens at 11am on Wednesday, June 4th. Bidding for the first of 128 lots catalogued is scheduled to close from 11am on Thursday, June 5th.
Images and videos of all lots are available to view at tattersallsonline.ie , along with breeze up footage and official times for the Online Breeze Up Session. This marks the third running of the initiative, with last year’s renewal having produced Irish EBF Auction Series Race Final winner Fiona Maccoul.
The Coulsty filly topped trade 12 months ago at €27,000 but repaid Jack Cantillon’s Syndicates Racing with first prize of €72,000 when scoring at Naas for Jessica Harrington just four months later.
Her Rathasker Stud sire will have two juveniles offered this week alongside juveniles by Ardad, Awtaad, Cotai Glory, Kameko, Kodi Bear, Saxon Warrior and Starspangledbanner. Given his impressive start at stud, Starman’s sole offering is expected to prove popular from consignor Silky Thoroughbreds. He is a half-brother to the 111-rated Make It Up, as well as the dam of Group 3 scorer Create Belief.
Fellow Tally-Ho Stud sire Cotai Glory accounts for two lots, including a half-sister to Group 2 third Big Boots, from Kildallan Farm. The same stallion farm bred Ardad, who has fillies out of listed and Group 3 winners catalogued.
M.C. Thoroughbred’s Maclean’s Music filly appeals on paper, being a half-sister to a stakes horses and out of a blacktype El Prado mare. Their other offering is a Cotai Glory colt with Grade 1 heroine Caffe Latte as his granddam.
Wide variety
Katie McGivern’s Derryconnor Stud may be best known for selling breeze-up horses but offers highly-rated sprinter Kendall Roy this week. The four-year-old gelding notched four wins last season, including premier handicaps at Cork and the Curragh, earning his a mark of 93.
Marco Botti offers another talented sprinter in Sommelier, who finished second to Big Evs in the Listed Westow Stakes at York last season.
As a daughter of Muhaarar, Paggane may have been expected to be speedy but the six-year-old mare peaked after switching to the stable of Willie Mullins. Listed-placed over hurdles and Grade 2-placed over fences, she is one of three consigned by Closutton Stables, who have enjoyed success selling online.
Mullins also offers the in-form nine-year-old Klarc Kent, who finished second in the Scottish Grand National on his penultimate start, bettering his fourth 12 months prior. Lightly-raced tablemate Sir Argus has two wins to his name, along with a third in a Grade B hurdle.
Mullins will be familiar with the pedigree of High View Stud’s offering, a two-year-old half-sister to the trainer’s Albert Bartlett runner-up High Class Hero, who placed in two graded chasers in recent months. The Gentlewave filly is one of two two-year-old stores catalogued, the other a Sumbal half-brother to listed-winning chaser Duke Of Navan, from Crohane Stud.
Of similar appeal is Selwood Bloodstock’s yearling colt by Nathaniel out of the multiple Grade 2-placed hurdler Mickie. He is one of four yearlings catalogued, which also includes a flat-bred colt from the first crop of accomplished globetrotter State Of Rest.
He features in a quartet from Baroda Stud, which also features Gloriously Glam, fresh from being beaten a nose in a fillies’ premier handicap at the Curragh on Irish Guineas weekend. Other operations consigning include Avenue Sales, Bansha House Stables, Consign Ltd, Houghton Bloodstock and Martinstown Stud.
Among the trainers selling are Ralph Beckett, Michael Bell, Ed Bethell, Karl Burke, Richard Fahey, James Fanshawe, Charlie Fellowes, Eve Johnson Houghton, Jessica Harrington, Charlie Hills, Richard Hughes, Jamie Osborne, James Tate, Roger Varian and Ian Williams.
