FRENCH Dynamite flew the flag for the Tattersalls Ireland May Point-to-Point & Horses in Training Sale when landing the Munster National on his second start for Eric McNamara and next week’s renewal promises to offer similar opportunities, with Robcour offering five horses through their trainers on Thursday, May 28th.
The Acheson family’s quintet includes blacktype chaser Golden Joy, who finished second at the Dublin Racing Festival on his penultimate start. Westerner mare Look To The West has won between the flags, over hurdles and over fences, as well as placing at Grade 3 level.
Commenting on the Robcour draft, Robbie Power said: “All five have winning form and remain smart dual-purpose performers. Some have lightly-raced profiles with the potential for further improvement.
“We were extremely happy with the prices received last year, and French Dynamite is a perfect example that horses within a sale of this type can go on and win valuable prizes.”
French Dynamite sold for €40,000 12 months ago and the then 10-year-old wasted little time in rewarding new connections, placing in the Kerry National before landing the trainer’s local showpiece, the Munster National.
Four-year-old point-to-pointers brought the three highest prices last year. Bentraghill, the joint top lot at €150,000, made a winning rules debut for Willie Mullins at the Leopardstown Christmas Festival.
Fourteen four-year-olds – three of them debut winners – are among 50 lots entered for next week’s sale. Mark Scallan’s impressive newcomer Harzwood is among the expected highlights after the Harzand gelding scored by six and a half lengths at Ballindenisk.
Future Champ
Michael Murphy’s Dan De Champ won the other four-year-old maiden on the card, with the Old Persian gelding keeping on well to win his debut by two lengths, with another 13 lengths back to the third horse.
At the same fixture, Sean Doyle’s newcomer Kingside Lady justified favouritism in the four-year-old mares’ maiden by six lengths. Patrick Turley’s five-year-old Lower De Couely is another mare of note, with the daughter of No Risk At All easing four and a half lengths clear on debut at Necarne.
George Williams’ homebred five-year-old Treasure Born will be offered by Jonathan Fogarty following his promising run at Bartlemy, where he held the advantage when falling at the final fence.
Catalogued lots who have shown promise under rules include the Liz Doyle-trained Double Dare, who took a step forward on his second start to finish third in a Limerick bumper last month.
James Fahey’s Little Ginger is also on the improve, having built on two fourths to win a Kilbeggan bumper. The Crystal Ocean gelding is a half-brother to Cork National winner Dromore Lad.
Emmet Mullins has entered Silverwave gelding Bravewave following his recent second in a Sligo bumper, having finished third at Bellewstown a month prior.
Further entries for the sale will be taken from the weekend’s action at Inchydoney, Ballingarry and Tattersalls Ireland. Entries are available to view at www.tattersalls.ie
