TATTERSALLS Online have attracted 159 lots for their August Sale – their largest offering of the year so far, and it couldn’t come at a better time, following three winners of valuable handicaps at Glorious Goodwood.

Defiantly completed the Tattersalls Online treble when winning Friday’s two-and-a-half-mile opener by three lengths off a rating of 98. Joseph O’Brien sourced the Kameko gelding for 41,000gns as an unraced two-year-old in the August Sale, while Summerstorm Bloodstock gave 20,000gns for smart sprinter Naana’s Shadow who has risen to a rating of 102 for Katie Scott.

Gary Downie’s 6,000gns purchase Sing The Blues made it two from two for Martin Dunne when scoring on the first day of the meeting.

Buyers will have their chance to secure another bargain on Monday, August 10th, when bidding opens at 11am and begins closing 24 hours later. David O’Meara’s progressive stayer My Ballyquinn is among the highlights, with the 89-rated New Bay gelding being offered in collaboration with Inglis. Jack Davison’s 95-rated sprinter Thunderbear is another obvious draw, with a CV featuring wins at listed and Group 3 level.

Jessica Harrington’s eight-strong draft features 86-rated three-year-old Confused and the 80-rated Galiway gelding Sea Coral.

Gordon Elliott offers six, including Grade 2-placed hurdler Wendrock and the promising maiden San Hilario. Their Grade 1-winning stablemare Wodhooh is a half-sister to Sotchi, who James Grassick will offer in foal to Choeur Du Nord.

Castlehyde Stud offer Candidly, a daughter of Nell Gwyn – a Group 3-placed full-sister to Rock Of Gibraltar, in foal to Blackbeard. The same draft features Carriage, a full-sister to Group 2 runner-up Emphatic Answer, in foal to Auguste Rodin.

Foara, a winning daughter of a stakes winner and Grade 3 performer, in foal to Sands Of Mali, is the sole entry from Castledillon Stud.

The breeding shed beckons for Renewal, a Wootton Bassett filly out of Fresh Terms, herself one of three stakes winners out of champion two-year-old filly Best Terms. Ralph Beckett’s consignment also features Richie’s Rocket, who finished a close fourth at listed level in February.

Andrew Balding’s dual winner Allegresse will be offered with a rating of 87 – two above the latest mark of Wathnan Racing’s Artagnan, a Mehmas gelding who showed enough promise to fetch £350,000 as a breezer.

Amo Racing, Blue Diamond Stud, Brian Meehan, Ed Dunlop, Gavin Cromwell, George Boughey, John and Thady Gosden, Michael Bell, New England Stud, Norton Grove Stud, Richard Hannon, Richard Hughes, Roger Varian, Shadwell Estate Company, The Castlebridge Consignment and Willie Mullins are others among over 100 consignors.

Horses in an out of training account for the vast majority of lots, supplemented with 12 broodmares, six stores, five yearlings and a breeding right to Palace Pier. The catalogue can be viewed at www.tattersallsonline.com
