TATTERSALLS Cheltenham have revealed 18 early entries for their January Sale, which takes place after racing on Festival Trials Day on Saturday, January 24th. With further entries still due from this weekend’s racing and point-to-points, 15 of the preliminary lots have won or placed on debut.

They include well-related five-year-old Azlad, who made a winning debut last month in a maiden at Alnwick. By Linda’s Lad and out of a Grade 2-placed mare, he is consigned by Gina and Tom Ellis’ G&T Racing, who sold Deafening Silence at the 2022 renewal for £40,000.

Ryan Mahon’s purchase went on to win a Grade 2 over hurdles and chased home Haiti Couleurs in last month’s Welsh Grand National.

The winner, who captured last year’s Irish Grand National, is also a graduate of the sale, costing £68,000. The 2024 Welsh National victor, Val Dancer, sold for £60,000 at the same renewal.

This year’s offerings include Paul Power’s five-year-old Game Theatre, who drew five lengths clear at Turtulla last weekend. The Leading Light gelding is out of a full-sister to Grade 1 runner-up African Gold, with Conflated featuring further down the page.

Robert Tector has three promising five-year-olds entered, including Phantom Of Delight, a full-sister to Ms Parfois. The Mahler mare defied testing conditions to win at Ballindenisk, while game Jet Away mare Doubleosue made a winning debut at Tinahely.

Jonathan Fogarty’s three entries include well-related debut winner Golden Current. By Golden Horn and out of a blacktype mare, the bay won a four-year-old maiden at Dromahane by 12 lengths last month.

Limestone Liberty made a successful debut on the same card, landing the four-year-old mares maiden by five lengths for Robert Tyner. The Order Of St George mare is a half-sister to a listed winner, out of a half-sister to Commanche Court.

Walk In The Park mare Lennon Grove won a four-year-old mares’ maiden at Loughanmore last April and has built on that promise under rules for Gavin Cromwell. She is offered following last month’s success in a mares’ bumper at Thurles, where she beat a well-backed newcomer.

Nick Schofield offers Otie’s Friend, a Jet Away gelding out of a half-sister to Take The Stand, who finished second to Kicking King in the Cheltenham Gold Cup.

The five-year-old made a promising debut at Huntingdon last month, finishing second to a more experienced favourite, with previous point-to-point winners in fourth and fifth.

A full catalogue will be published on the Tattersalls Cheltenham website on Monday, January 19th.
