JEAN-DANIEL Manceau of Capucines Bloodstock described Lastotchka as “really good value” after securing the dual Group 3 winner for 60,000gns in the Tattersalls Online January Sale.

Beaten a head in a Group 2, Lastotchka was purchased on behalf of a partnership of breeders, Manceau explained, adding: “We really liked this mare’s profile and we had the chance to inspect her before bidding.

“She is a nice, well-made filly with a really good walk. She was consistent on the turf and a multiple group winner, so it was a great opportunity. We think she was really good value at this price and we were delighted to buy her.”

Consigned by Ronald Rauscher, the daughter of Myboycharlie was the highest-priced of 54 lots sold, with the 1/20th share in Bradsell bought back by the vendor for 74,000gns. Two lots fetched 50,000gns, with Charlus set to move from Willie Mullins to Dan Skelton, after being purchased by Darren O’Dwyer.

“Charlus was purchased for an existing group of owners and hopefully he can contest at Cheltenham or Aintree this year,” the agent commented. “They could put him away and try him over fences next year but there will also be options for him on the flat. He is going to give this syndicate a lot of fun and a few days out.”

Charlus previously sold for €315,000 after gaining blacktype on the flat in France and the Churchill gelding went on to make a winning start over hurdles 12 months ago.

Hot prospect

Kong Bloodstock signed for The Glanvilles Stud’s well-related broodmare Hotaugustnight at 50,000gns. Offered in foal to Pinatubo, the daughter of Camelot is a full-sister to Deira Mile, who finished fourth in the Vertem Futurity, Epsom Derby and St Leger.

Stephen Thorne and Shamrock Thoroughbreds were among the Irish buyers active, securing Je Suis Celebre for 41,000gns. The Massaat four-year-old was offered by Ian Williams following a narrow defeat at Kempton earlier this month, building on a promising debut five days earlier.

Bidders registered from across the world, with countries including Italy, France, Germany, Hungary, Luxembourg, Romania and Spain, as well as bidders from throughout the Gulf region.
