Darley’s European stallion roster will have two exciting new additions from next year, with Rosallion and Inisherin to stand at Dalham Hall Stud for the 2026 season.
Rosallion, the champion miler and classic winner, began his racing career in perfect fashion, setting a new course record at Newbury on his debut. This earned him a swift step up to stakes company in the Pat Eddery Stakes at Ascot where he won by four lengths.
He rounded off his two-year-old campaign with another track record – and the first of his Group 1 victories – in the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardère.
Rosallion made his three-year-old debut in the English 2000 Guineas where he found only Notable Speech too good, before winning the Irish equivalent three weeks later.
Next, Royal Ascot and the Group 1 St James’s Palace Stakes where he posted the fastest final two furlongs of any winner at Royal Ascot that year.
This year, Rosallion has been placed on four occasions, with his three seconds all agonisingly close: a nose, a neck and a short head, all in Group 1 company.
Rosallion is out of Rosaline – herself a daughter of blue hen Reem Three, dam of no fewer than six blacktype winners. They include Triple Time.
He will stand alongside Inisherin, winner of Royal Ascot’s Group 1 Commonwealth Cup and champion three-year-old sprinter.
The son of Shamardal broke his maiden on his three-year-old debut, a victory that was considered impressive enough for him to line up in the 2000 Guineas where he was far from disgraced when finishing sixth.
He opened his Group-winning account in the Group 2 Sandy Lane Stakes at Haydock, where the drop back in trip to six furlongs proved very successful as he won by almost four lengths.
Inisherin then won the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot by over two lengths.
This year, he won the Group 2 Duke Of York Stakes.
Inisherin is from the same family as Rosallion– he is by the same sire as Blue Point and Lope De Vega, out of Teofilo’s Group 1 winner Ajman Princess, herself a daughter of the aforementioned Reem Three.
Sam Bullard, Darley's Director of Stallions, said, “Rosallion and Inisherin are hugely exciting additions to the stallion roster at Dalham Hall Stud as a Champion son of our own Blue Point and a fellow Champion by Shamardal - both from one of the finest female families around.
"Rosallion posted three thrilling Group 1 victories and is a gorgeous looking horse, which I am sure breeders will agree with when they come to view him at Dalham.”
"We are also delighted to add another top-class performer from the Shamardal line to our European roster and Inisherin offers British breeders a superb opportunity to use a champion three-year-old sprinter.”
Fees for both stallions will be announced at a later date.
