IN 2011 the Revenue Commissioners decided to allign themselves more closely with EU regulations in regards to streamlining commercial vehicle tax. But what does that mean for you? Basically, it is now possible to get a commercial 4x4 with five seats at a reduced VRT and road tax level. As long as the vehicle meets what are called N1 standards and the manufacturer stamps the vehicle as N1 at the factory, the Revenue Commissioner will charge VRT at 13.3% and, in most cases, reduce road tax to €333.
