A PAIR of €46,000 fillies by Dandy Man and Acclamation were the joint top lots over the two day Part II section of the September Yearling Sale.

First to the Dandy Man, who headed Thursday’s session when she was bought by Ross Doyle to join the Richard Hannon team.

The filly was sold by Ballyhane Stud, where her sire resides, and she made notable appeal on pedigree as a daughter of the premier handicap winner Marigold, who is a half-sister to the Grand Prix de Paris hero Imperial Monarch and to a quartet of Group 1-placed runners.

Earlier that afternoon, Doyle spent €40,000 on a son of Arakan. The sire is one that the Doyles and Hannon have enjoyed notable success with and during previous editions of this sale they have bought the high-class duo of Dick Turpin and Trumpet Major, who are among Arakan’s very best runners. Ross Doyle further added to his tally with the €22,000 purchase of a Dandy Man filly out of a winning Street Cry mare.

Friday’s session was headed by a €46,000 Acclamation filly who was bought by agent John Hussey. A date at the breeze-up sales beckons for the Cooneen Stud offering whose dam is a winning half-sister to the very smart Red Badge.

Just four lots previously Joe Murphy forked out €35,000 for a daughter of Zoffany from Owenstown Stud. Murphy reported that he also trains this filly’s two-year-old have brother by Kodiac.

BEST PINHOOK

Perhaps the best pinhook of Part II was a €31,000 son of Elusive Pimpernel who had been picked up for €4,500. Aidan O’Ryan bough the colt on behalf of a client who has a dual-purpose career in mind for his purchase.

A Kyllachy filly, who had enjoyed some time updates to her pedigree in recent weeks, was another to show a good return on the 6,000gns she cost as a foal when she was knocked down to Oliver Cooper for €30,000. One of her half-brothers has recently won three races abroad and her juvenile sibling, Son Of Rest, was fourth in the National Stakes a fortnight ago.

Another Kyllachy filly to make an impression was a daughter of a winning Invincible Spirit mare who went to Katie Walsh for €24,000.

The breeze-up sales-bound filly comes from the family of the high class Midnight Line.
