HAVE you registered online to attend next week’s Goffs Land Rover Sale?

It’s the first ‘on-site’ sale of the year at Kildare Paddocks and it promises to be a lively affair, following high clearance rates at the recent store horse sales in Doncaster and the various point-to-point and horses in-training sales.

Part 1 of the Land Rover Sale has been extended to two days - Tuesday and Wednesday – with 420 stores, and a further 182 lots will be offered in Part 2 on Thursday. Selling starts at 10am each day.

The catalogue includes 14 siblings to Grade 1 winners including Put The Kettle On, Sir Gerhard, Appreciate It, Paisley Park and Fayonagh.

This year’s Cheltenham Festival Grade 1 winners to have been discovered at the Land Rover Sale were Put The Kettle On in the Queen Mother Champion Chase, Stayers’ Hurdle winner Flooring Porter, Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle winner Vanillier and Sir Gerhard in the Weatherbys Champion Bumper.

Land Rover graduate Belfast Banter also won at Cheltenham and subsequently went on to Grade 1 success at Aintree, while other Grade 1 winners from the sale to have shone last season included Paisley Park, Sporting John and The Storyteller. Cloth Cap, winner of the Ladbrokes Trophy at Newbury, and the Aintree Grade 2 bumper winner Knappers Hill also came from the Land Rover Sale,

Goffs’ chief executive Henry Beeby said: “Following a decade of extraordinary growth, we decided earlier this year to expand Part 1 of the Land Rover Sale in response to the ever-increasing demand from vendors to send more of their best to Goffs.

“Our selection team of Gerry Hogan, Neil Walsh, Peter Molony and Kevin Ross have worked with those vendors to compile our biggest and best catalogue yet.”

The catalogue features progeny of all the leading National Hunt sires led by Flemensfirth (17), Getaway (29), Milan (36), Mount Nelson (31), Presenting (7), Shantou (16), Soldier Of Fortune (50), Walk In The Park (32) and Yeats (2).

Peter Nolan Bloodstock will offer the largest draft with 44 stores, followed by 35 from Rathmore and a 33-strong lineup from Ballincurrig House Stud.

As ever, all horses offered across the three days are eligible for the €100,000 Goffs Land Rover Bumper at next year’s Punchestown Festival, with the unique addition of a new Land Rover Defender going to the winning vendor.

Beeby added: “The record renewal of the Goffs UK Spring Store Sale at Doncaster bodes well for the Land Rover, as our selection teams worked as one on both catalogues.

“After a season where the quality and value of store horses was never more apparent, headed by 16 winning store graduates at the Cheltenham Festival, the level of interest in this year’s catalogue would suggest that demand will be strong once more at Goffs.

“It is imperative that all those planning to attend the sale pre-register as early as possible; and, while onsite at Goffs, follow all of the Covid protocols in place which will include the now normal temperature checks on arrival, social distancing measures, sanitising stations and the wearing of face covers to ensure a safe and compliant environment for all.”
