THURSDAY

A daughter of Presenting was the clear standout on the final day when selling to Bobby O’Ryan for €57,000. The half-sister to four winners, who comes from the family of the classy Rajdhani Express, was sold by Peter Nolan on behalf of Seamus McKeogh, and was bought for a client who will put her into training with Gordon Elliott.

A Kayf Tara gelding from Ballincurrig House Stud sparked considerable interest and Paul Nolan made a strong play for him. However, at €48,000 Johnny Hurley signed for the relation to the Welsh National winner Dream Alliance.

MONBEG BUYING

Over the course of the three days the Monbeg Stables team secured a total of 28 horses for next year’s point-to-point campaign and they made a series of notable purchases on the final day. These included a €37,000 son of the French Group 1 winner Fuisse whose siblings include the Grade 2 victor Pythagore. Other Monbeg purchases included €31,000 sons of Tiger Groom and Well Chosen. The only gelding in the sale by Sixties Icon was knocked down to Margaret Mullins for €36,000. The Ballyreddin Stud offering is a half-brother to the listed bumper winner Tetlami. John Joe Walsh spent €34,000 on a Westerner gelding who made €3,000 as a yearling and the trainer also signed for a €31,000 son of Court Cave.

John Hanlon has a point-to-point career in mind for a Shantou gelding who cost €34,000. Among those to make €33,000 was a Satri gelding knocked down to Gerry Hogan and a son of the late Gold Well who was bought by Sarah O’Brien. The latter partnered Oathkeeper to an impressive victory at Listowel on Monday to complete her brother’s remarkable four-timer.

Another €33,000 transaction came when Vincent Halley secured a son of Milan while Martin Brassil went to €32,000 for a son of Thewayyouare from Oaks Farm Stables.

An interesting lot was a son of the very talented French stayer Watar. There was only one horse on offer this week by the Marju horse and he cost Tom Keating €31,000.
