FRIDAY

AS expected, the concluding day of the Breeding Stock Sale was a much more low key affair although the day’s trade did play host to a pair of six-figure transactions, headed by Jim Bolger’s Beyond Intensity.

Eamonn Reilly struck the winning bid of €150,000 for the daughter of Intense Focus who is in foal to Dawn Approach. Beyond Intensity is a half-sister to the high-class Turret Rocks and Beyond Thankful who showed a good level of form in Ireland before winning at Group 3 level in Australia. Reilly reported that he acting for a stud farm in Meath.

Earlier, Moyglare Stud’s Heartful, a four-year-old daughter of Shamardal, cost Kawakami Racing €100,000. The daughter of the Gladness Stakes heroine and multiple Group 1-placed Mad About You is likely to head straight to Japan. Kawkami Racing have previously made their mark at this sale having spent €320,000 on the stakes-winning Silwana in 2015.

Another popular member of the Moyglare draft was Lost In Silence who notched up a Galway Festival maiden win in 2016. The Holy Roman Emperor filly fetched €65,000 and was bought by the Irish National Stud’s Cathal Beale. Lost In Silence is a half-sister to Speaking Of Which who was a runaway winner of the Gallinule Stakes before transferring to America where he won at Grade 2 level.

The second highest price of the day came when Cathy Grassick spent €88,000 on the unraced Teofilo filly Ugneya. She is a half-sister to the classy Convergence and her dam is a stakes-placed half-sister to the dam of the top miler Ribchester.

This filly was bought on behalf of Gerard Kerin, of Abbey House Farm, who has bred the likes of the Lowther Stakes heroine Besharah.

The consistent Rose Anjou, a winner at Bellewstown for Tracey Collins during the summer, was snapped by Dreaming Bloodstock for €50,000. This five-year-old daughter of Royal Applause will remain in Ireland and she is a half-sister to several decent types, including the dam of last season’s Group 3-winning juvenile Kilmah.

Tally-Ho Stud added to heir band of mares when giving €43,000 for Perfect Venture who was sold in foal to Fast Company. The daughter of Bahamian Bounty got her breeding career off to a decidedly encouraging start this year as her first foal is the Dundalk maiden winner and Silver Flash Stakes runner-up Shalailah.

Among the more interesting lots was Aquarelle Bleue and this Sadler’s Wells mare cost European Bloodstock Management €36,000. She was sold in foal to the high-class miler Vadamos, her progeny are headed by the quality handicapper Baraweez, and she is a daughter of the European champion Aquarelliste.

The €36,000 mark was also reached by Skymarc Farm’s Starbright. Formerly a Group 3-placed runner, this daughter of Duke Of Marmalade was bought by the BBA Ireland and she is in foal to Dragon Pulse.
