IT’S been a good week for Ballyhane Stud, following the news of a new stallion for the Co Carlow stud and good results for their stallions at Goffs.

Space Traveller will join the Ballyhane roster next season. The son of Bated Breath (Dansili) won the Group 3 Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot and the Group 2 Boomerang Mile at Leopardstown before transferring to North America where he was placed three times in Grade 1 company. His stud fee will be €6,500.

Ballyhane’s Joe Foley said: “There has been a great reaction to the news of Space Traveller’s retirement to stud. It’s going down well with breeders and they will like him more when they see him. It looks like he will be quite popular.”

Dandy Man remains top of the Ballyhane roster and retains his €15,000 fee. “He’s had another brilliant foal sale and his fee is very reasonable. Every year Dandy Man is among the top 20 sires in Europe and always has the lowest covering fee in that list.”

Soldier’s Call remains on €7,500 and Sands Of Mali stays at €5,000. Elzaam’s fee comes down 20% to €4,000 and Prince Of Lir’s fee has been shaved by €500 to €3,000.

Foley said: “Foals by Soldier’s Call made €100,000 and €65,000 this week. We’re looking forward to his first crop of runners next year. Sands Of Mali’s first foals were well received this week in Goffs, and the better crops from Elzaam are coming through now. He provided breeders with a lot of profit this week.”
