FOLLOWING a strong yearling sales season, the resurgence of Ireland’s bloodstock industry has been further highlighted by Rathbarry Stud’s acquisition of two new flat stallions for 2015.

Dual Group 1 winner Xtension and Group 2 winning two-year-old Moohajim will be joining the Rathbarry team next season and both will stand at a fee of €5,000.

Formerly trained by Clive Cox, Xtension was a Group 2 winning juvenile in Britain and was placed in both the Coventry Stakes and the Dewhurst Stakes, earning a rating of 116. At three years he was placed in both the Irish and English 2000 Guineas before continuing his racing career in Hong Kong where he proved a star who could take plenty of racing at the highest level.

Bred by Paul and Marie McCartan, Xtension is by Xaar out of the Grand Lodge blacktype mare Great Joy.

Moohaajim also earned a rating of 116 as a juvenile by winning the Group 2 Mill Reef Stakes and placing second in the Group 1 Middle Park Stakes. Considered a classic prospect he placed in the Greenham Stakes before picking up a career-ending injury in the 2000 Guineas. He is a son of Cape Cross out of the Kingmambo mare Thiella.
