BetBright records major loss in profit

THE company behind Irish online gambling business BetBright.com, whose chairman is leading National Hunt owner Rich Ricci, reportedly lost €3.9 million in 2015. Dedsert, the company controlled by Richard and Marcus Brennan, launched BetBright in 2013 and the losses have left them nursing an excess of liabilities over assets of just over €6m at the end of last year. However, Dedsert have anticipated that the company’s performance will improve once it establishes market position. BetBright is involved in racing sponsorship and has spent heavily in the sport, including the sponsorship of races at Chetenham.

Meath cottage

A BEAUTIFUL fully refurbished country cottage on 35 acres of top quality land at Newtown, Garristown, Co Meath was withdrawn at €500,000 from public auction last week. The property, located five minutes from Ashbourne, comes with a four bedroom cottage and a compact farmyard with its own entrance from the main road.

Guided at €650,000 prior to the auction, selling agent Raymond Potterton, Navan, withdrew the parcel at €500,000 before a packed room last week, and he is currently in private negotiations with an interested party.

RDS overhaul

THE RDS has applied to Dublin City Council for planning permission for the redevelopment of the Anglesea Stand, as part of the RDS Main Arena overhaul.

The redevelopment will provide improved facilities for visitors to the stand, while also increasing the standard capacity for Leinster Rugby and Dublin Horse Show spectators from 18,500 to 21,000.

The RDS have been working on the final design, which has to meet the specific requirements of Leinster Rugby, the Dublin Horse Show and other commercial considerations.

The total cost of the project is expected to cost in the region of €26 million.
