LEADING Light has joined Coolmore Stud’s National Hunt stallion roster for 2015.

The son of Montjeu won the 2013 Doncaster St Leger and the 2014 Gold Cup at Royal Ascot but he suffered a career-ending injury on Champions Day at Ascot last month.

Leading Light beat the Oaks winner Talent when winning the St Leger and at Ascot he came out on top in a thrilling three-way battle with Estimate (who was subsequently disqualified) and Missunited.

“He’s a gorgeous, big horse and we’re delighted to be getting him,” said Coolmore’s Albert Sherwood. Other sons of Montjeu at stud under the Coolmore banner are Scorpion and Fame And Glory.

Leading Light’s dam is Gone West’s daughter Dance Parade, winner of the Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot and the Fred Darling Stakes at Newbury for Paul Cole before going on to win a Grade 2 at Santa Anita.

Moving on from Coolmore is the four-time Irish St Leger winner Vinnie Roe. The son of Definite Article joins Dr Massini at Dunraven Stud in Wales.
