FOLLOWING last year’s very successful event, the ITBA will once again host its Foal Sales Preparation Workshop, which is co-funded by the Department of Agriculture.

The workshop will take place on Friday September 14th at the ITBA HQ and the Irish National Stud.

A comprehensive panel of industry experts has been secured. The morning session at ITBA HQ consists of panellists talking about their areas of expertise and will conclude with a question and answer session.

Panellists Lorraine Fradl, Mariann Klay, Jacqueline Norris, and Liam O’Donovan will cover a variety of different topics during the morning session.

Topics will include the importance of a good preparation programme which will ensure your stock reach their full potential in time for the foal sales; the importance of showing foals while at the sales; how integral farriery is in the management of young stock; veterinary matters to be consider prior to selling foals at public auction; the benefits of a good feeding programme, and breeding for current market demands.

The afternoon session will take place at the Irish National Stud and INS CEO Cathal Beale, will host a classroom talk upon arrival.

Members of the Irish National Stud team will parade a number of foals during the workshop. While foals are paraded, attendees will and receive a talk on foal conformation.

Interested parties should contact the ITBA on 045 877543 to reserve places. As space is limited, early booking is essential.
