SUTTON Place was most impressive when winning the Grade 2 Ladbrokes Ireland Boyne Hurdle at Navan on Sunday and it does not take much imagination to suggest that he will go on to even better things. The race itself has a great record with past winners, and the roll of honour since 2010 alone is made up of War Of Attrition, Voler La Vedette, Mourad, On His Own, Dunguib, Dedigout and Snow Falcon.

The James Leahy-bred Sutton Place is firmly establishing the credentials of his sire Mahler, and he is not alone in doing so. However, he is the standout so far for the son of Galileo who is based at The Beeches Stud and stands under the Coolmore National Hunt banner. He won three races, including the two-mile Queen’s Vase at Royal Ascot and a mile and a half classic trial at Gowran Park.
