SEVEN members of branches in Area 17 (Northern Ireland) recently took part in The Pony Club Polocrosse Four Nations invitational camp and tournament at the Celyn Polocrosse Club in north Wales.

The Area 17 members were joined by five British counterparts with links to this country to represent Ireland against England, Scotland and Wales.

Despite playing against some international contestants, the ‘Irish’ squad performed well with North Down’s Ashleigh Saunderson winning an ‘Exceptional Team Spirit Award’.

It was the first time for most Area 17 players to be selected for the tournament but Saunderson has now competed four times at all three levels (Mini, Junior and Senior) while fellow North Down Branch members Eloise Keers and Abbey Wallace competed twice at Mini level before moving on to Juniors this time around.

The ‘Irish’ squad also comprised the Mini players Maggie Flower (Essex Hunt North), Isla Oliver-Byre (North Warwickshire), Annabelle Gill (East Down) and Zac Hanna (North Down); Juniors Max Lewis and Bailey McGuile who are both member of North Down and Seniors Jack Page (Essex Farmers), Chloe Stevens (Warwickshire Hunt) and Malkia Beadle (Llangeinor).
