THERE is no doubt who the fastest runners are going into this Saturday’s two Group 1 two-year-old races at Newmarket. Lady Aurelia has easily the fastest juvenile timefigure of the year courtesy of her 127 at Royal Ascot, while Blue Point boasts the second-best and third-best figures of 118 (Gimcrack) and 116 (Doncaster).

However, while I believe no-one should be in a rush to oppose Blue Point in the Middle Park Stakes, Lady Aurelia may be more vulnerable in the Cheveley Park. Her hell-for-leather style might well have found her out at 6f in the Prix Morny at Deauville last time had she faced stronger opposition, with sectionals showing she was treading water by the end.
