TATTERSALLS has replaced Goffs as the auctioneer for the select sale of point-to-pointers after racing at Sandown Racecourse on Tingle Creek raceday, Saturday, December 9th.

Announcing the news this week Tattersalls focused on the existing link between the sales company and Sandown’s owners, Jockey Club Racecourses, vis-à-vis the seven annual Tattersalls Cheltenham sales. The Sandown sale will take place six days before the Tattersalls Cheltenham December Sale.

Matthew Prior, head of sales at Tattersalls, commented: “The Jockey Club and Tattersalls have a long and successful relationship, and the partnership has gone from strength to strength since the successful development of the select National Hunt auctions at Cheltenham Racecourse.

‘Festival Dream’

“As we witnessed numerous times last season the successes of Tattersalls Cheltenham graduates confirm that horses purchased at Tattersalls Jockey Club Sales can indeed go on to achieve the ‘Festival Dream’. All of us at Tattersalls are looking forward to working alongside the Sandown Park executive and developing the Tattersalls Tingle Creek Sale on one of the most significant days in the National Hunt racing calendar.’’

Goffs initated a similar sale on this raceday last year, selling all 16 horses offered with top prices of £380,000 and £350,000. Goffs CEO Henry Beeby commented: “Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Monday’s announcement is a massive compliment to the superb job Goffs UK did establishing Sandown Park as a vibrant sales venue with the first Tingle Creek Sale last year and we wish Tattersalls Jockey Club Sales every success on December 9th. Goffs is exploring other options to provide an alternative as competition is vital to all markets.”
