ACE Impact acheived more in winning the Prix du Jockey Club than Auguste Rodin did at Epsom last weekend. That’s the view of the Longines World’s Best Racehorse Rankings Committee who this week published their updated figures.

According to the panel of senior handicappers, seven of the top 12 racehorses currently in training are based in the Far East. Japan accounts for three of the top dozen and another four are based in Hong Kong. Ireland and Britain both have two each and France has one qualifier.

The sole French entrant is Ace Impact, the Cracksman colt who shot to prominence at Chantilly last Sunday. The unbeaten three-year-old has been given a rating of 123, which puts him on a par with the year-older Luxembourg and 1lb ahead of that one’s stable companion Auguste Rodin.

Top of the pile remains Equinox, the Japanese four-year-old who was not at all extended to beat Westover by over three lengths in the Sheema Classic at Meydan in March. Equinox is rated 4lb above Hong Kong’s top miler Golden Sixty and that territory’s top sprinter Lucky Sweynesse.

British racing’s two qualifiers are Bay Bridge (Sir Michael Stoute) and Dubai Honour (William Haggas), both on 122. Coronation Cup winner Emily Upjohn is 1lb lower on 121 and a further 1lb behind comes Liberty Island, impressive winner of the Japanese 1000 Guineas and Oaks this year.

The rankings cover three-year-olds and upwards who raced between January 1st and June 4th this year.
