Dark Angel (by Acclamation) was represented on Saturday by Group 3 scorer Markaz (photo: Peter Mooney)
SATURDAY
Aeolus won the Group 3 Betfred Chipchase Stakes over six furlongs at Newcastle, his fourth win from a dozen starts and his second blacktype success. Andrew Buxton's homebred is trained by Ed Walker and the four-year-old is a son of the ace miler Araafa (by Mull Of Kintyre). He is a half-brother to the stakes-placed sprint handicapper Hezmah (by Oasis Dream) and his dam Bright Moll (by Mind Games) is a winning half-sister to pattern-placed Helene Brilliant (by Dr Fong) and to the prolific sprint scorer Brazen (by Kyllachy).
Markaz won the Group 3 John Sunley Memorial Criterion Stakes over seven furlongs at Newmarket, his second win from 10 starts and his first blacktype success. The Barry Hills-trained three-year-old was bred by the partnership of Yeomanstown Stud and Doc Bloodstock. He is a son of the Morristown Lattin Stud stallion Dark Angel (by Acclamation), he is the second foal out of the capable Folga (by Atraf), and that makes him a full-brother to the dual pattern winning sprinter Mecca's Angel.
