Fozzy Stack is keen to get a run into Son Of Rest in the Cork Stakes at Navan.

Son Of Rest famously dead-heated with Baron Bolt in the Ayr Gold Cup last year, and afterwards was supplemented for the sprint at Ascot on Champions Day.

He failed to cut much ice there, but had proved when second to Havana Grey in the Flying Five at the Curragh he was up to Group 1 class.

“I hope to run (on Saturday) – I’ll have to have a look at the ground, because it’s yielding there now, but it’s probable,” said Stack.

“If it got quicker than that, we might not, but we want to get him started if the ground is safe enough.”

Son Of Rest’s campaign will be dictated by the availability of his favoured conditions.

Stack added: “He was second in the Flying Five last year, third in it the year before, so he obviously likes the Curragh – we’ll be going back there at some stage.

“I’d have thought Ascot would be unlikely because of the ground. But as for where else he’ll end up, we’ll just see – we are a bit governed by ground.

“I’ve always thought he was a bit better over six (furlongs), but the form book might suggest he’s better over five – so we’ll see what happens.”
