TRAINER Adrian Joyce has stepped away from his role at Denis Hogan’s yard as he prepares to embark on a new chapter of his career in Australia.

The former National Hunt jockey, who trained winners between 2013 and 2019 before becoming assistant to Ger O’Leary, had stepped in to take over the licence at the stables near Cloughjordan, Co Tipperary, while Hogan serves a three-month ban.

Joyce saddled winners at Roscommon and Laytown last month but confirmed to The Irish Field this week that he has changed his plans.

“I’m flying out to Australia this Sunday to begin working with Ciaron Maher Racing,” said Joyce.

“I have my heart set on Australia and the role here wasn’t for me. I’m heading to Cranbourne to run a barn for Ciaron. It’s an exciting time and I’m looking forward to it.”
