MESSIRE Des Obeaux completed a hat-trick when taking the Grade 1 Betfred Challow Novices' Hurdle at Newbury. The Alan King-trained four-year-old won by two lengths.

Baltazar D'Allier's performance is highly promising as this was just his second start under National Hunt rules. J P McManus's five-year-old is trained by Gordon Elliott and he made a winning debut over hurdles at Naas in mid-November.
Robin Roe was sent off the 7/4 favourite but fell three out when still going well.
