THE publicly funded charity Air Ambulance NI will benefit from funds raised by Glaslough’s Rosemary Bellew when she runs in the Irish Life Dublin Marathon which takes place on Sunday, October 30th.

Rosemary is joint-owner, with her sister Caroline McQuillan, of the unraced thoroughbred mare Belle Saru and they share the ride on the Sageburg six-year-old.

Rosemary partners the mare in riding club dressage as a member of the Border Counties club.

Last weekend, it was Caroline’s turn in the saddle and she guided Belle Saru to victory in the EI100 (Amateur) championship at the Horse Sport Ireland/Eventing Ireland national championships at Lisgarvan House in Co Carlow. In addition to claiming the title, Caroline was presented with the Treo Eile prize for riding the highest-placed thoroughbred at the championships.

Having been paraded recently at Downpatrick and the Curragh, the Dublin Horse Show racehorse to riding horse champion, General Principle, will have his last competitive showing outing of the season tomorrow in the Treo Eile finals at the Lambertstown Show outside Kilmessan.

His Downpatrick-born owner/rider Seainin Mahon will be hoping for a successful conclusion to the season for the 13-year-old Gold Well gelding but he won’t have things all his own way with rivals such as Habaroun, Smokey Bay, Douvan, Renetti, Milliner, Mandamus, Black Hercules and Boston Rambler also entered.
