GROUP 2 winner and Ballyhane Stud stallion Red Jazz (by Johannesburg) got off the mark on Thursday afternoon when his Karl Burke-trained daughter Capla Dancer sprang a 66/1 shock on her debut at Ripon.

Ballyhane bred the early April-born chesnut, she is a €6,500 graduate of the Goffs Sportsmans Yearling Sale, and she is out of Greatest Dancer (by Iffraaj), a winning half-sister to several multiple scorers, notably the five-time winner Donncha (by Captain Marvelous).

On Friday, his Richard Hannon-trained son Mutanaaseq made a winning debut at Bath. The Patrick Kelly-bred chesnut is a 125,000gns graduate of Book 2 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale, he is out of Indaba (by Indian Ridge), and comes from the immediate family of Group 1 star and sire Shirocco (by Monsun).

Other freshmen off the mark so far in Europe in 2017 are Swiss Spirit (by Invincible Spirit), Society Rock (by Rock Of Gibraltar), George Vancouver (by Henrythenavigator) and Dabirsim (by Hat Trick).

Awesome Patriot (by Awesome Again) and Data Link (by War Front) got off the mark in the USA on Wednesday, and Violence (by Medaglia d'Oro) got his first winner there on Thursday.
